In Sydney, missing home and feel you want to see a small slice of Canada? This year the Sydney Film Festival includes a showcase of the best of new Canadian cinema to mark the 150 years since the confederation of Canada. These films demonstrate the creativity and exceptional storytelling of Canadian filmmakers. Going to the Sydney Film Festival is also a great opportunity to network with Australian and International filmmakers. The festival will also feature First Nation filmmakers from around the world.

The Sydney Film Festival occurs every year and this year will feature a number of stellar guests such as Steven Yuen from The Walking Dead, Cannes Palme d’Or contender Bong Joon-ho, former New Zealand Prime Minister and UN Secretary-General candidate Helen Clark along with director-producer Gaylene Preston to showcase the documentary My Year with Helen. Also among guests are Vanessa Redgrave, David Wenham for his directorial debut film Elipsis, Red Dog director Kriv Stenders and Indigenous actor and director Wayne Blair. This year will feature Meet the Filmmaker talks in Town Hall, an opportunity to meet and speak with other avid film goers.

Not only is this a fantastic opportunity to feel at home on the other side of the world, it is also a wonderful way to experience Australian cinema and culture in a unique way. Use this as an opportunity to network with other people who are interested in the art of filmmaking and storytelling.
